If you haven’t explored BrainPOP recently, now is a perfect time to consider doing so… specifically BrainPOP Jr. I received their summer newsletter today, and was giddy to see a new lesson on Blogs. I thought maybe a few UIWP fellows might be interested as well. You will have to sign up for a free trial to view it, but I promise it is worth the time. For those unfamiliar with BrainPOP, hosts Annie and Moby always do an excellent job presenting content to youngsters. They highlight the pause button throughout the video to promote classroom discussion at key points. There are always follow-up activities, games, jokes, quizzes, etc., for each lesson as well. It doesn’t provide the deepest inquiry and complexity that we aim for, so I would use it sparingly; but the kids LOVE it!
I think they may have convinced me that a classroom blog would be a good addition this year. I’m off to try out the free Featured Movie app.
I’m thinkin’ you’re a writer 🙂 …
Dave
I’m thinkin’ I TEACH writers. 😉
Nice try!
you are awesome. I will try it out especially since I have a Smartboard in room. However, the power cord is dangling down into the room from ceiling and no power source yet. Sounds like it may take time before I am up and running. 🙂
E– There might not be a power source yet, but it sounds like there is progress!
